RM Support
For support on all RM machines and software, hot fixes, information,
updates, etc. a good starting point would be the RM
Support Web Site.
Information can be
found under the following headings:
ICT Service Desk
OCN E-mail, Conferences and Digitalbrain technical issues
should be dealt with by the
ICT Service Desk: 0845 052 1000.
Evesham Computers - Evesham computers have recently gone into liquidation.
European Electronique (EE)
Hardware supplies already ordered from Evesham Computers will now be
provided by European Electronique (EE), a company based in Eynsham.
They have been sent details of all outstanding orders that were placed with
Evesham, and have been asked to contact affected schools and re-confirm the
order. Schools affected should expect a call in the very near future.
For new orders and enquiries, schools can contact EE now on
occschools@euroele.com. Schools do
NOT need to contact them regarding outstanding orders.
Schools should use the contact email above for support calls - EE are able to
offer next day swap-out service for warranty machines. If school has an HP
laptop between 1 and 3 years old, EE will honour warranty repairs up to the
value of £175. Beyond that it will be deemed beyond economic repair.
Warranties on Lenovo laptops supplied by Evesham are unaffected.
Laptops for Teachers BIOS
The "Laptops for Teachers" or LFTs are BIOS password protected. The
decision to use a BIOS password was made to improve the security and
supportability of the Laptops. In the first instance having a BIOS password
increases security by stopping accidental or unauthorised changes to the
system. It also means that technical support for these Laptops is easier by
having consistent password details, otherwise if the BIOS password has changed
support may be difficult to provide.
The BIOS password will be provided by the ICT Service Desk in reponse to any emailed request from a school headteacher or office account. It is requested that you do not give this information out to others freely and that you consider the implications of any changes you might make. Disabling the BIOS password reduces the security settings imposed, so it is advised that you leave the BIOS password enabled and for supportability reasons that this password remains the same.
