Fire of London Diary

Diary account of the Great Fire of London

2nd September 1666

Jane called us up, about 3 in the morning, to tell us of the great fire she saw in the city. I got up and went to the window.  I thought small of this fire so we went back to bed.

I arose again at 6 to find the fire had spread a little since I last saw it.  I told my wife what I had seen and she was amazed at what I had told her.  We have to stay inside and out of the city.  God bless the traders at market and keep the beautiful city safe.

3rd September 1666

The fire is spreading quickly across the city but is not able to cross the Thames so we are quite safe at this dreaded time.  We go to market at morn and smell the horrid stench of the rising smoke, the heat of the flames and hear the crackling of the burning.  Rumour has it that the fire started at the Royal Bakery of Thomas Farynor.  I fear what will become of him after this terrible disaster.  The old cathedral of St.Paul was also burnt down in the raging inferno.  I fear for the people who’s home’s have been burnt down.

Level 3 (c)

Pupils use ICT to save information and to find and use appropriate stored information, following straightforward lines of enquiry. They use ICT to generate, develop, organise and present their work. They share and exchange their ideas with others. They use sequences of instructions to control devices and achieve specific outcomes. They make appropriate choices when using ICT-based models or simulations to help them find things out and solve problems. They describe their use of ICT and its use outside school.
