The ICT Advisory Team has recently published another in their series of ICT Topic Plans booklets – this one incorporates ways of using Logo across the curriculum and comes with lesson plans and suggested activities for ten topics ranging from foundation/year 1 through to year 6. The topics include The Bad-Tempered Ladybird, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, An Island Home, Egyptian Pyramids, Exploring Our Local Area, Designing Mazes for the School Playground, Tudor Rose, Tudor Houses, Building a Greek Temple and Islamic Art. 

The booklet contains aims and learning outcomes, National Curriculum links and QCA units incorporated with detailed lesson plans to cover a number of sessions. The booklet also contains a complete list of resources required which are freely downloadable through Digitalbrain for those schools which purchase the booklet.The booklet runs to 104 pages and costs £15 for Oxfordshire schools. ICT Topic Plans for the Foundation Stage – Journeys

The ICT Advisory Team has also recently produced the second in its series of ICT Topic Plans for the Foundation Stage based on the theme of Journeys. This topic plan contains a wealth of ideas for activities, which integrate the use of ICT in learning and teaching in the Foundation Stage.

The topic plan contains ideas for using a range of ready-made resources for commonly available software such as Clicker, Textease, SMART Notebook as well as numerous internet based activities and the use of non-computer based ICT resources such as tape recorders, remote control toys, etc. Each activity outlines the areas of learning and learning objectives, activities for small groups, whole group or independent work, the resources required and assessment opportunities.

This Topic Plan provides a number of “off the shelf” activities to enable teachers to embed ICT in the Foundation Stage curriculum. It costs £10.00 and can be acquired from The ICT Advisory Team, Cricket Road Centre, Cricket Road, Oxford OX4 3DW.
