Free ICT Support: Hands On Support
Liz Hunt, Primary Hands On Support (HOS) Consultant reminds us of her role and gives some ideas of how she could be used this year.
Don’t forget that you all have a fresh HOS allocation for this year. HOS is ICT support in the classroom with the pupils so there is no need for supply cover or PPA time. Most schools have already bought in to the scheme and therefore there is no additional cost for you.
HOS can take the form of modelled lessons or team teaching in the classroom or suite. You can select the curriculum area in which you would like some help to use ICT effectively. This ICT could be the PCs in the suite, an IWB in the classroom, dataloggers, microscopes, cameras, digital blue movie cameras, programmable toys, roamer work…
The support is very much tailored to your needs and the equipment you have in your school. The amount of support allocated to you depends on the size of your school.
So if there is any area of the ICT curriculum you do not understand, resources you cannot use effectively or maybe there is a piece of equipment that you haven’t had time to get to grips with yet, then make a call to Cricket Road on 01865 – 428034 and ask about Hands On Support.
