This CD ROM contains 12 games that can be used on individual computers or for whole class work on an interactive whiteboard. This group of CD ROMs covers: the 1932 election, features of the depression, the causes and effects of the depression, the New Deal, opposition and support for the New Deal and an assessment of the New Deal. The content can be displayed on an Interactive Whiteboard or pupils can work through sections individually. The software will track and record pupils' progress through the sections and activities. You can create lessons and worksheets in any presentation package using the library of digital content available.


Empires and Citizens

The CD ROMs that accompany the student books can be bought with ELCs. For a school of 1001+ pupils, the CD ROMs costs £200 each.
Empires and Citizens is a History course for Key Stage 3 written by Ben Walsh. There are three student textbooks. A CD-ROM of ICT resources and interactive activities supports each book. The electronic resources can be used on interactive whiteboards and projectors or on PCs by small groups and individual students. The CD ROMs contain printable teacher notes that suggest how to deliver the Empires and Citizens course and ICT resources and templates to support students with the activities in the books. The activities can be completed electronically, helping students to develop their core ICT skills, or printed off and completed by hand. There are also multimedia presentations, images and simulations on key topics, including electronic versions of resources in the textbooks. Lists of useful websites are provided for each topic and there is a supporting Empires and Citizens website.

The pack costs £200. Speak to your ICT manager about buying it as it is a cross curricular resource that also contains units for French, English, Science, Maths and D&T.
One of the units in this teacher support pack is "Using Data and Information Sources in History." It consists of three 60 minute lessons to be delivered in Year 7. The main focus of this unit is for students to learn how to use the Internet effectively to find relevant and reliable information for a task on the Black Death.
